"We love having Dream Puppets here each year to share your amazing puppets - you're so very talented"
Year 2's Livingstone Primary School, September 2018

“Brilliant! The children were enthralled and captivated throughout.”
Debbie Coffey, Osborne Primary School, Vic.

Dreamer's Night Before Christmas in Space is a Christmas themed version of Dream Puppets' magical blacklight puppet theatre show, Dreamer in Space. It is suitable for presentation in the weeks before Christmas, but does not contain any religious themes. As Dreamer travels through space on Christmas Eve, there are signs that not only humans are giving presents and decorating Christmas trees , but Santa and his reindeer are visiting other other galaxies too.

Dreamer, an endearing, brave, curious and childlike creature is the main puppet character in Dreamer in Space. In this story, Dreamer‘s computer, via his satellite dish, picks up a message from an intelligent life form from a wormhole near Jupiter. Dreamer dons his space suit and fires up his rocket. He is off to experience weightlessness, travel through a wormhole, discover a new solar system and save a growing planet from a planet eating space monster. Dreamer meets and learns to communicate with some very engaging alien creatures. The show begins and ends with a delightful and crazy alien puppet playing a Wurlitzer organ.

Accompanied by an original sound track by Melbourne composer, John Grant, this is puppet theatre to inspire the imagination for all age groups.

Dream Puppets are an internationally award-winning company, based in Melbourne.

Puppetry Syle:
Dreamer is in black light style combined with other lighting and experimental colour
effects, scrims, and manipulation of scale creating a detailed and vivid three dimensional
world.

There is no spoken dialogue. The story is told visually with the support of original soundtracks. The performance uses black light and rod puppets within an enclosed booth. Although the
puppeteers are completely invisible, the puppets and props glow under the blacklight,
resulting in a magical and convincing illusion.

Teachers' notes with follow up activities and puppet designs are available upon booking.
