That Shakespeare Play

Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA

That
My Friend,
Let us, in truth, be not too proud to say
That you are held in our esteem so dear.
For each success in thirty years to date
Means naught without the presence of you near.
Each rise and fall, each show upon our stage,
Thou’st came, in both the days of sun and sleet.
Thus in reflection of this festive age
May we become a servant at your feet.
And so with this in mind we beg of thee
Instruct us now of that which you desire.
Which of The Bard’s great plays thou wish to see?
And that request shall fuel our artist fire.
Whether thy bidding fatal, famed or fun;
In thy good bidding know thy will be done.

In this, our 30th year we return to the playwright and stage where it all began, with our audiences choosing which Shakespearean play we will present to complete our season. This open door endeavour invites you not only to help us lift the curtain, but immerse yourself behind it throughout the full journey of a production.

“Our doubts are traitors and cause us to miss the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” - Lucio
