PLEASE NOTE! You can book this show along with our show for K-2 "MUCH ADO ABOUT SAUSAGES" and have us perform both on the same day.

VIVA COMMEDIA! is designed to allow students a complete immersion in the world of the Italian Carnevale through an easy-to-follow and entertaining plot. It is an original creation produced using improvisation techniques. It is an example of the integration of highly polished physical and verbal jokes with parts in which the actors are left free to improvise on stage following the inspiration of the moment, without ever departing from the pre-established plot.

As all our shows VIVA COMMEDIA! is enriched by the use of Renaissance costumes, original leather masks and hand painted set design. The show is in English with a few Italian expression. The stock characters speak in English emphasizing their original Italian regional accents.

At a fast pace, the following characters take the stage: Dottor Balanzone (father of Flavio), Flavio, Colombina, Brighella, Pulcinella, Capitano Spaventa, Pantalone de’ Bisognosi (father of Isabella), Arlecchino, Isabella.

Not only is the show informative but most of all, fun for students and teachers alike.

Performance Space VIVA COMMEDIA! does not require technical supports. We do, however, require that the performance space be clean and free of clutter and that the backstage area be visually protected from the outside. We require access to the space 90 minutes before the start of the show for set up of costumes and backdrop.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your dedication to the art of Commedia dell’Arte and to thank you for the wonderful performance you gave here at Magdalene.
Bernadine (Magdalene Catholic College)
