The The The

"The Forgotten Warrior" is an educational play that encapsulates indigenous culture and history through engaging theatre design and production. On behalf of the community at Dajarra and as the principal at Dajarra State School I would highly recommend."
Dajarra State School, Head Teacher

"The production was a rich source of learning for all of our students in Year 5-9 in many aspects including Indigenous history and languages. I would like to recommended this production to all schools in middle school and beyond."
St. Joseph's Catholic School, Cloncurry

The Storey Players worked with Trevina Rogers, a Pitta Pitta woman in north-west QLD, to present the story of her great-uncle, Peter Craigie, who rode his horse over 1700 kms to enlist in WW1. Over 1000 Indigenous Soldiers fought for Australia in WW1 alone and this production highlights their contribution based on one man's true story. Trevina also translated parts of the show into the endangered Pitta Pitta language, so it is a great opportunity to hear this language brought to life by the two Indigenous actors performing in the show. The show is a unique hybrid of cinema and live theatre and is extremely effective and engaging in a live theatre environment.

Peter Craigie is played by Jack Mahoney, a proud Bidjara man. His paternal Grandmother was born on the Traditional lands of the Bidjara people and grew up in and around Augathella in Central West Qld and Daisy Cusack, his wife, is played by Jazleen David De Busch who is a proud Kaanju and Pitta Pitta woman, a Craigie family member and very honoured to be involved in this project.

IN 2022 we toured the show and performed to over 2000 children and adults in Outback communities and continuously received excellent feedback about the production and the message it conveys about why so many Indigenous men enlisted in WW1, their experience in the trenches and their shocking treatment upon their return.
